Yes, I know, it's difficult to keep up. Back at the start of 2012 I was thinking about the fact that a Mayor was going to be elected in Salford - for the first time ever. That election happened in May. By that time, I was preparing for the 'Secret Garden Festival' in Salford, based on the Quays, and writing a book about it. Over the summer, I turned my attention to Science Fiction. Then we came to November, and it was 'National Novel Writing Month', and room to make a new novel about the Prime Minister visiting Salford University, and being held captive. Now it's Christmas. What will 2013 bring? (A new novel about organised crime and politics in Salford. Two sides of the same coin?)
Graham Nash lived in Salford in the '60s and started a band called 'The Hollies'.
He moved to the West Coast of the US at the end of that decade and was in one of the first supergroups, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young.
Two weeks ago he was playing the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester. We went. The VC was sitting in the row behind, and gave us his Bact Stage pass, so we could go and talk to the singer and ask him to support our campaign to create 'Hive 2' in Ordsall, using the abandoned St Ignatius church.
Here's what it said in the local paper.
