Two Disparate Worlds depicts two different outcomes on earth that will cause humans to make some significant societal changes. The first world represents the effects of over consumption and waste, the second world portrays a place of mindfulness and renewal. This collage series was imagined in hopes to wake people up and encourage them to be more conscious of their actions. The expression you reap what you sow is very pertinent to our current society and it’s not until everyone as a collective thinks beyond themselves, that they will see their natural home return to how it once was.
Charlotte Watson states that her piece reflects on "the Earth’s complex relationship with humans and innovation. The duality of beauty with destruction, and the future of our home if we, as a species, continue to destroy our planet.”
Yasmine Steele states that her collage piece "takes a more hopeful approach and reflects on the positive effect sustainability can have on unifying society." Within this new utopia, people gravitate towards nature because it makes them feel more grounded, present and at peace. When people start prioritizing and obtaining a more sustainable lifestyle, all animal species that are currently endangered today will be able to prosper in their new environment. The act of being mindful of our surroundings, while also nurturing our planet can do wonders for its future.
